About the Role

 About the Role:
We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our HBCU Superhero Day Camp team as Camp Counselors. This stationary camp empowers rising 1st-8th graders through leadership activities, HBCU history, and community service projects. Counselors will play a vital role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment while helping students develop critical skills and lasting connections.

Responsibilities:

Model Black Lemonade core values in all interactions with campers, families, and staff.
Follow the Black Lemonade curriculum and actively facilitate leadership, history, and community service sessions.
Ensure a safe, risk-free environment while meeting the individual needs of each camper.
Act as a positive role model, exhibiting good judgment, enthusiasm, and a strong awareness of safety.
Maintain the general health, happiness, and safety of assigned students.
Know, enforce, and understand all emergency procedures associated with the program.
Perform frequent head counts, utilize the buddy system, and ensure students are always accounted for, especially during free time.
Address discipline concerns according to provided guidelines and keep the Program Director informed of issues.
Follow the weekly-prepared schedule, ensuring all students participate in activities and leading songs, games, and group tasks during free time.
Participate actively in opening and closing ceremonies daily and complete other duties as assigned.
Greet parents daily, providing recognition for student achievements or notes about their experiences.
Record and document daily activities for social media postings.
Submit required reports on time.
Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
Provide guidance to any volunteers or interns.
Qualifications:

Prior experience working with youth in an educational or recreational setting.
Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Passion for creating an inclusive and empowering environment for children.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic camp environment.
CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.

Requirements

Monday - Friday hours ranging from 6am-6pm

Anticipate a maximum of 5 hour days M-Thus and 7 hour days on Friday

  • June 2nd - July 28th

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: Starting at $17+

Schedule:

  • Day shift


License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)


Ability to Relocate:

  • Nashville, TN 37209: Relocate before starting work (Required)


Work Location: In person


  • Willing to undergo a background check

  • Must sign a confidentiality agreement

  • Required to take all mandatory training if certifications are lacking
