The Mission
Digital Black is a premier paid internship program that empowers minority and underserved high school students. We provide high-impact, hands-on experience in the most influential sectors of modern tech, including AI, Coding, Game Design, Photography, 3D Design, and Digital Music. Our goal is to transform "consumers" of technology into "creators" and "advocates" who lead with a sense of social responsibility.
The Role
As the Program Coordinator, you are the architect of the student experience. You will manage the logistical flow of the 6–8 week program, ensuring that technical workshops on AI and coding are balanced with mentorship and leadership training. You will guide interns as they use their new skills to solve community problems and organize a high-profile fundraising event.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tech Curriculum & Workshop Oversight
Coordinate and facilitate workshops in trending fields: AI (Prompt Engineering/Ethics), Coding, Digital Art, and 3D Design.
Ensure the curriculum emphasizes Social Responsibility, teaching students how to use technology to advocate for their communities.
Manage guest instructors and tech industry partners to ensure high-quality, hands-on learning.
2. Student Success & Mentorship
Act as the lead mentor for a cohort of high school interns, fostering a culture of curiosity and professional excellence.
Guide students in building a digital portfolio that includes AI-generated assets, code samples, and photography.
Coach students on "The Pitch": translating their technical skills into a compelling personal brand and elevator pitch.
3. Event & Project Management
Lead the 6–8 week project lifecycle for the program’s culminating fundraising event.
Supervise student "Agile" teams as they handle marketing, financial planning, and technical execution of the event.
Oversee the creation of digital content (music, visuals, apps) to be showcased at the final event.
4. Operations & Partnership Building
Build and maintain relationships with community partners and tech firms for mentorship and future placement opportunities.
Manage program logistics, including student stipends, tech equipment inventory, and venue coordination.
